After the resounding demand from our last recruitment event in Botswana, Zambia, and South Africa, we just knew we had to return. Mental Health and Paediatric Mental Health Nurses

Your role is to promote and support a person’s recovery, helping them live independent and fulfilling lives. This could include any experience in caring for older adults with mental health conditions (e.g., Dementia, Alzheimers), caring for patients with substance abuse problems, working with patients with other mental health conditions (e.g. eating disorders, post-natal depression), or caring for children with mental health conditions.

Learning Disability Nurses

Learning disability nurses work to provide specialist healthcare and support to people with a learning disability, as well as their families and staff teams, to help them live a fulfilling life.

You could qualify as a Mental Health Nurse!

The NHS is looking for registered nurses with “transferable skills” to work with a variety of Mental Health patients. Transferable skills include:

  • Work on a psych or mental health unit / ward / department (even if some years back),
  • Care of mental health patients in community as part of community case load,
  • Forensic (prison) Nursing,
  • Care of older adults with dementia / Alzheimer’s,
  • Care of mental health patients on medical ward / Emergency Department or during transfers to referral hospital,
  • Care of patients with moderate to severe Learning Disability e.g., in conjunction with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other disorder (This could be personal, rather than professional experience),
  • Care of children with Learning Disability or Mental Health condition on Paediatric ward.

HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF GETTING SHORTLISTED

Candidates who have already passed their CBT exam and have their English Certificate (Academic IELTS or OET) at a level required by the NMC will receive priority when NEU Professionals is booking interviews with SWYPFT.

If you have booked your CBT exam or English Exam prior to your interview date, you will also be given priority, even if you have not yet passed these exams.

SWYPFT Sponsored English Language Training

We are currently accepting applications from qualified overseas Registered Nurses with experience as Mental Health and Learning Disability nurses who are yet to pass their English Language exam! SWYPFT are funding this additional training to assist qualified nurses to pass their OET exams. Qualified nurses must meet certain criteria for sponsorship and funding; please apply now for more details.

Our partner English language school Specialist Language Courses (SLC) will ascertain your current level of English according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Botswana Nurses Union - LogoThe Botswana Nurses Union (BONU) formerly Nurses Association of Botswana (NAB); NAB was founded by the late Grace Kgari in 1968 and she became the first President of the association. And BONU now was launched on the 24 October 2012 making history in Botswana.

During the NEU Professionals in-person recruitment event in Spring 2022, BONU focused on improving opportunities for nurses from Botswana who want to advance their careers overseas. They worked with local governments to reduce administrative barriers and provide additional credibility to show nurses the benefits of enhancing their skills overseas.
