Ongoing Overseas Nurse Recruitment campaign from 2019 – 2020

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (YTH) provides a comprehensive range of acute hospital and specialist healthcare services for approximately 800,000 people living in and around York, North Yorkshire, North East Yorkshire and Ryedale – an area covering 3,400 square miles.

Each year the Trust sees the following activity:

127,000 A&E attendances

390,000 outpatient appointments

119,000 inpatients

61,000 operations and procedures

5,000 babies delivered

The majority of the Trust’s 1,800 registered nurses and midwives are employed across its York and Scarborough hospital sites.

One of the great benefits of coming to work for our Trust is the opportunity to live in York, North Yorkshire or the North East Yorkshire Coast.

York is internationally renowned for its beauty and heritage. Its city centre, made famous by the iconic Minster and Shambles, is a bustling and vibrant hub for a range of activities; whether you’re interested in relaxing in one of its huge number of bars, pubs and cafes, visiting one of its numerous museums or tourist attractions or enjoying a little retail therapy in its many and varied shops. Ideally placed on the East Coast Main Line for rail journeys to London (2 hours), Manchester International Airport (2 hours), Scotland, or cross-country, York also has excellent road links which ensure easy access to the wonderful North Yorkshire countryside.

Scarborough is a vibrant seaside resort on the East Coast of Yorkshire set in beautiful countryside. The local industries include agriculture, fishing and tourism. Scarborough is one of the top ten tourist destinations in England, attracting more than one million visitors during the summer months.

In keeping with Scarborough being a major tourist attraction there are many indoor and outdoor entertainment venues. Outdoor sporting facilities in and around Scarborough are excellent. The North Yorkshire Moors National Park on Scarborough’s doorstep provides a place to get away from the crowds with walking and purpose built cycle tracks. The coast line of Yorkshire offers probably the best surfing, windsurfing, yachting, dinghy sailing and scenery on the east coast. There are a wide range of golfing opportunities including a championship course at Ganton. Those interested in fishing are also well catered for with boat, shore, fly, course and even salmon/sea trout on two rivers.
