Mental Health Nurses

  • Must have Nursing degree at post-secondary level leading to registration as a general nurse

  • Minimum of 18 months experience in Mental Health

  • Should have passed OET exam or booked prior to interview date – Candidates with English exam PASSED OR BOOKED, will take priority for shortlisting. If not, must commit to booking English exam within 3 months of interview.

  • Driving license: desirable, not essential

  • NMC registration – Mental Health” (if not started NMC registration yet, please choose option Mental Health)

Learning Disability Nurses

  • Must have Nursing degree at post-secondary level leading to registration as a general nurse

  • Minimum of 18 months experience in Mental Health or Learning Disability

  • Should have passed OET exam or booked prior to interview date – Candidates with English exam PASSED OR BOOKED, will take priority for shortlisting. If not, must commit to booking English exam within 3 months of interview.

  • Driving license: desirable, not essential

  • NMC registration – Mental Health” (if not started NMC registration yet, please choose option Mental Health)

To be shortlisted for an interview, your English language level must fall into one of the following categories:

  1. Have an OET/ Academic IELTS certificate at the level required by the NMC (UK’s Nursing and Midwifery Council) For IELTS you must achieve at least 7 in reading, listening and speaking, and at least 6.5 in writing. For OET you must achieve at least a grade B (350 to 440) in reading, listening and speaking, and at least a grade C+ (300 to 340) in writing. OR,
  2. Have an OET/ Academic IELTS exam already booked (proof of booking required) OR,
  3. Do not have an English language certificate but you are willing to book exam within 3 months of interview* – Free English language training will be provided by NEU Professionals in this instance. If this is your case, please ensure you provide proof of your English language level by sharing evidence when submitting your application. To check your current level of English you must complete a free English language test using the British Council’s EnglishScore mobile app. Once the test is completed, please take a screenshot of your score (i.e. A2, B1, B2 or C1) and attach it as part of the registration form. Please note that to be shortlisted for interviews we require a minimum English language level of B2.

*If you can pass OET/IELTS quickly after interview, you could make a cohort in June. You may take a little more time to study if needed but be mindful that the NHS Trust would like you to arrive before the end of November 2024. Therefore, you will need to take your English exam within 3 months of interview (before the end of July).

Putting together a study plan to demonstrate your commitment and motivation to meeting this requirement is also recommended.
