Register with SWE

If you wish to start your journey as a Social Worker in England you must first register with Social Work England. NEU Professionals will support you with your registration process so you do not need to be registered before sending us your application. However, it’s recommended that you learn a little about Social Work England and their requirements beforehand (it will certainly give you brownie points! 😉)

The register

We keep an up-to-date register of all Social Workers. Those who join their register need to meet our standards for registration. Anybody who wants to work in England as a Social Worker must be registered with Social Work England.

To apply for registration, you need to create an online account. You can apply to join the register when (both of the following):

  • you have received official confirmation from your course provider that you have successfully completed your course
  • your course provider has sent us their pass list (list of people who passed the course)

What is Social Work England?

Social Work England is a specialist body taking a new approach to regulating social workers in their vital roles. They believe in the power of collaboration and share a common goal with those we regulate—to protect the public, enable positive change and ultimately improve people’s lives.

Social work is about people. Their purpose is to regulate social workers in England so that people receive the best possible support whenever they might need it in life. They are committed to raising standards through collaboration with everyone involved in social work.

From the very beginning and moving forward, they’re committed to their regulation being rooted in the values and principles that underpin the social work profession.
