If you wish to start your journey as a nurse or a midwife in the United Kingdom you must register with the General Pharmaceutical Council NEU Professionals will support you with your NMC registration process so you do not need to be registered with the NMC before sending us your application. However, it’s recommended that you learn a little about the NMC and their requirements beforehand (and it will certainly give you brownie points! 😉 )
The register
As a pharmacist, you’re responsible for providing safe and effective care to the public. GPhC job is to protect people and give them assurance they’ll receive a high standard of care when using a pharmacy.
If you want to practise as a pharmacist in England, Scotland and Wales, you must be registered with the GPhC. It’s a legal requirement.
You must also complete a certain level of education, training and experience to register as a pharmacist. When you renew your registration with them each year, you need to complete a declaration statement that you meet all of their standards for pharmacy professionals.
The registration process and the information you need to provide depends on the country where you gained your qualifications.
What is the GPhC?
The General Pharmaceutical Council is the regulator for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacies in Great Britain.
They make sure pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on their register are fully qualified and have the skills and knowledge needed to do their job safely. This is called being ‘fit to practise’. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians must be registered with the GPhC by law and can’t work in pharmacy if they’re not on their register.
The GPhC also regulate pharmacies to make sure they’re well managed, and the equipment and facilities are safe.
