University Hospitals of North Midlands

University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) has two sites: Royal Stoke University Hospital, located in Stoke-on-Trent, and County Hospital, located in Stafford.

From these hospitals they provide a full range of general acute hospital services for approximately 700,000 people living in and around Staffordshire and beyond. The Trust also provides specialised services, such as Trauma, for three million people in a wider area, including neighbouring counties and North Wales.

More than 165,000 patients attend their Accident and Emergency department. Many emergency patients are brought to them from a wide area by both helicopter and land ambulance because of our Major Trauma Centre status.

Delivering exceptional care with exceptional people

UHNM goal is to be a world-class centre of clinical and academic achievement, where staff work together to ensure patients receive the highest standards of care and the best people want to come to learn, work and research.

2025Vision has been set in the context of national and international trends in demography, technology and globalisation.
Closely aligned with the NHS health plans, UHNM Vision will move care closer to people’s homes, increase patient choice and develop regional models for specialist services.

One of their key roles is to provide district general hospital services and they will continue to adapt these to the changing health environment. They strive to deliver these at an excellent standard with more joined up working between acute services and community care.

Together, Compassion, Safe and Improving

In valuing their staff, equal opportunities and the embracing of diversity are central to everything they do. They will continue to support improvements in staff wellbeing and reward and recognition, with the aim of offering an excellent staff experience at work and being an employer of choice.
